The Saulteau First Nations Guardians Program will help to maintain and ensure our way of life. It allows us to take leadership for monitoring, protecting, and restoring the health of the lands and waters of our traditional territory, which we have always relied upon for our health and well-being.
The Treaty 8 BC area is an ecologically rich and diverse landscape that allows for the full and unencumbered implementation of Treaty Rights and continued way of life of Saulteau First Nations. Twin Sisters is a sacred place for Saulteau First Nations and has shared values of significance amongst the Dunne Za, Cree and Saulteau. It is where our ancestors were guided to stay and to live, a place to protect that respects the natural laws of Wahkohtowin
Carrying these traditions into the future, the Saulteau First Nations have the right and responsibility to continue their culture, practice their relationship with the land and water, and protect the territory upon which this culture and relationship depend. Protection of Wahkohtowin laws means preserving the environmental and cultural integrity and maintaining good relationships.
