September Event - Pairing Indigenous & Western Knowledge in Indigenous Guardian Programs - Guardian's Hour with Jimmy Morgan

Guardian's Hour with Jimmy Morgan

Is your Guardian program interested in weaving Indigenous knowledge and western knowledge? Are you build bridges between different ways of knowing in your program? How might braiding Indigenous and western knowledge together enrich Guardian programs?

For September's Guardian's Hour we will discuss how Indigenous Guardian programs pair (or hope to pair) the strengths of Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing with western knowledges. This practice of Etuaptmunk or Two-Eyed Seeing was developed by Mi'kmaq Elder Albert Marshall, but we acknowledge that every Nation has their own words and practices regarding braiding knowledges. Learn more about Two-Eyed Seeing here.

Hosted by Gitanyow Lax'yip Guardian and TST facilitator, Jimmy Morgan, Guardian's Hour is a free monthly event exclusively for Indigenous Guardians (the technicians or on-the-land workers who are part of an Indigenous Guardians program) to connect and engage in conversation about their work in the field.

About this event

Date
Wednesday, September 7th, 2022 from 10:00AM - 11:30AM (PST)

Guardian's Hour is a free monthly event exclusively for Indigenous Guardians (the technicians or on-the-land workers who are part of an Indigenous Guardians program) to discuss the unique elements for their work in an inclusive and confidential space. Many of the other events run by the Indigenous Guardians Technical Support Team (the TST) are open to both managers/coordinators of Guardian programs, Guardians themselves, as well as others interested in learning more. However, Guardian's Hour is designed specifically to be a space just for Guardians to connect about their field work and experiences.
