Wildlife Camera Monitoring

Is your Indigenous Guardian program interested in using wildlife cameras for monitoring? Not sure where to start?

The Indigenous Guardians Technical Support Team (TST) hosted this webinar to share how Indigenous Guardians can use wildlife cameras to support their monitoring goals. We heard from guest speakers Nadine Perron and Terry Jones from Magnetawan First Nation who shared their real-world experience implementing a wildlife camera monitoring program.

The TST was also joined by Claire Kemp and Kathryn Yarchuk from the University of Guelph who walked through the Guide to Using Wildlife Cameras and gave attendees a chance to workshop how wildlife cameras could support their monitoring goals. The Guide to Using Wildlife Cameras is a user-friendly resource that aims to describe how wildlife cameras can be used to support community-led monitoring, determine if they are a good fit for different monitoring goals and resources, and ultimately to help the reader create their own community monitoring program using wildlife cameras.
